Christmas 2010

I am a little behind here, but I am trying to catch up!! :)  Christmas this year was pretty fun.  We got to stay home and have Christmas with both the boys, and we celebrated it a day early so we could run up to Reno and have some Christmas time with my family as well.  We got to see Auntie Robin and Uncle Dave who we haven't seen in a while, and the kids had a blast.  We even got to spend some time with Mike's brother Bryan, his wife Carly, and their little girl Emma.  It is so great being able to spend time with family!

Christmas Eve we had a big dinner over at Mike's sister Emily's house.  When we got home we read the story of the birth of Jesus in Luke, read "The Night Before Christmas" and had Noah frost some cookies to leave for Santa.  The boys got their traditional Christmas Eve Jammies, and they sure looked cute!!

Christmas morning the boys got up around 7:30 and they were so excited to go see what Santa had brought them!

They got quite the haul this year of toys, and games, and movies...I had to rearrange their bedroom to get everything to fit!! :P  And Noah was so excited that Santa had eaten the cookies he left for him!!

I had some trouble with Mike's presents this year.  He wouldn't tell me what he wanted other than "new thermals" and a beard trimmer.  So I decided I would go online and look at some tools for him for skinning his critters from his traps.  He said he needed a fleshing knife, so I ordered one from Cabela's and another little sharp skinning knife.  I had it shipped to the store in Reno figuring Mike's sister Kim could bring it home when she came down for Christmas, since she works at Cabela's. Well, she didn't end up coming down until Christmas Day which is when we went up to Reno, so I wrapped a box with a picture of both knives, so he could know what he was getting.

As it turned out, Mike already had the EXACT knife I had ordered for him, what he really needed was a "fleshing rod."  He was still happy though because he could tell I did my research and ordered him a good knife, but we will have to exchange it for something else!

The second problem I ran up against was getting Mike's new thermals.  I was planning on getting them from his Dad's store here in town, but he didn't have the right sizes in stock.  He had a shipment of them coming in that was due any day before Christmas, but they didn't get there in time.  I wasn't sure what to do, so I took a pair of Mike's "Crusty Old Thermals" (a direct quote from Mike, I might add) folded them up and stuck them in a box with a note that said, "I owe you a new pair of thermals." Everyone thought it was quite hysterical.

My favorite gift from Mike was the heated mattress pad he bought me.  Our room has a door behind our bed that is not sealed well at all and it makes our room freezing and our sheets like ice!! The heated mattress pad solves that problem nicely...and it couldn't have come at a better time.  I got super sick with strep throat (for the second time in 3 months!!) on Christmas Day, and I was feverish and freezing and it helped me feel toasty warm!
